Water supply order

Patna: A high court division bench on Tuesday directed the chief engineers of Patna Municipal Corporation, the water board and the urban development department to explain the delay in providing smooth water supply to the state capital. he state government in its counter affidavit claimed that it would install 38 new water supply centres in Patna.

Summons

Patna: A high court division bench on Tuesday asked the director of higher education to personally appear on July 2 to explain why a 2010 order to regularise the ad hoc employees of BR Ambedkar Bihar University, Muzaffarpur, was not complied with.

Suicide

Patna: A 33-year-old retired Navy personnel allegedly committed suicide on Tuesday by hanging himself at his home at the Indrapuri area under jurisdiction of Patliputra police station. A suicide note has been found.

Rescue

Patna: A team of labour department officials conducted a raid in a hotel on the premises of the Patna civil court on Tuesday and rescued a 12-year-old boy engaged in child labour. The boy, identified as Chandan Sahani, is a resident of Muzaffarpur district.

Contraband

Chhapra: Around 100kg of marijuana worth Rs 5 lakh was recovered on Tuesday and one Manish Singh was arrested for possessing the contraband, near Pakari Chowk.

Body found

Chhapra: The corpse of army jawan Kundan Singh was found on Tuesday at Madanpura under Revelganj police station.

Mishap

Chhapra: Two persons, identified as Girija Devi (65) and Khushi Kumari (6), died after the autorickshaw they were travelling in turned turtle at Mura village on Tuesday afternoon.

Nomination

Patna: BJP state president C.P. Thakur on Tuesday nominated lawyer Sanjeev Kumar Mishra as the party state spokesperson and media adviser.

Programme

Patna: Around 300 people on Tuesday took part in a disaster management-training programme sponsored by National Disaster Management Authority and Ignou, New Delhi.

Bail rejection

Patna: A Rohtas court on Tuesday rejected the anticipatory bail application of former BJP state president Gopal Narayan Singh and 37 others in an illegal mining case.

Lynched

Patna: A criminal was lynched by Dhobiatola residents on the outskirts of the capital on Tuesday afternoon. The victim and two others had earlier shot dead a villager.
