Plan for power supply

Patna: Bihar State Electricity Board (BSEB) has devised a plan to ensure power supply to water pumping stations across the state. high-level BSEB team would keep tabs on power supply to pumps and in case of a problem people can register their complaints by calling at 0612-2504285.

DTH service

Patna: Airtel digital TV — the direct to home service — from Bharti Airtel announced on Friday that all its high-definition set top boxes are 3-D ready.

Graft raid

Patna: Four senior officials of the agriculture department, including joint director (plant protection) Satya Narain Mochi, assistant director Manoj Kumar and joint plant protection officer Vipin Kumar, were arrested while taking a bribe of Rs 25,000 from a person at a hotel in Darbhanga on Friday evening. Darbhanga senior superintendent of police Vikas Vaibhav said Rs 71,000 was recovered from the possession of the arrested public servants.

Awareness

Patna: Health minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey flagged off a mobile diabetes awareness and screening van on Friday. The van is designed to create awareness about diabetes and also facilitate diabetes detection.

Cop beaten

Purnea: The station house officer of Champa Nagar police station, Vijay Kumar, was beaten by villagers of Charaiya Rahika village. The incident occurred when he had gone to a disputed land with standing wheat crops at Pachgachhiya village under Champa Nagar police station.

Compensation

Patna: District magistrate Sanjay Kumar Singh on Friday handed over a cheque of Rs 10 lakh to Saroj Devi, wife of Akhilesh Pathak, a teacher who died on duty during the 2009 parliamentary election.

Muzaffarpur: A musical night was organised at Muzaffarpur on late Thursday evening by Omkar Sangeet Maha Vidyalaya. Padma Bhushan winner Pundit Channu Lal Mishra performed at the programme.

SRI technique

Chhapra: Agriculture produce commissioner Ashok Kumar Sinha on Friday urged farmers to pursue SRI technique of rice cultivation. He said the new technique was especially beneficial for farmers with small plots of agriculture land.
