Cabinet nod to bills

Patna: The cabinet on Friday approved seven decisions that included bills and reports, which would be tabled in the state legislature beginning August 2.abinet co-ordination department principal secretary Ravikant refused to divulge details of six decisions. He, however, said commercial and revenue reports of CAG are likely to be tabled in the coming monsoon session. The cabinet also sanctioned Rs 14.7 crore for infrastructure development relating to police and law and order in several Naxalite hit districts.

New registrar

Patna: N.K. Singh would be the new registrar of Aryabhatta Knowledge University.

Gutkha

Patna: A high court bench of Justice J.N. Singh on Friday directed the Centre and the state governments to file their counter affidavits explaining whether or not gutkha comes within the purview of food article as described in Section 26 of Food Safety and Standard Act, 2006.

Flood meet

Patna: Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Friday held a high-level meeting to review the latest flood situation and distribution of relief material among the flood victims.

Arrest

Patna: Dinesh Purbey, mukhiya of Rajgajdar panchayat in Sitamarhi , was arrested by the vigilance investigation bureau on the charge of taking bribe of Rs 35,000 from the complainant Pakiza Khatoon for issuing a cheque against payment of her salary.

Posting

Patna: Anupam Kumar, who was waiting for posting in the state police headquarters, has been appointed as additional superintendent of police (operations).

Inspection

Gaya: Inspector-general of police Anupama S. Nilekar on Friday visited Dumaria block under Sherghati sub-division and inspected the spot where Maoists had torched a sports utility vehicle and two motorcycles on June 10.

Seizure

Ara: Bhojpur police on Friday confiscated about 1300 quintals of wheat from Malthar village.
