Coal salvo at UPA

Patna, Aug. 25: Ravi Shankar Prasad, the deputy Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, on Saturday said the UPA government is a government of scandals, scams, loot and held Prime Minister Manmohan Singh directly responsible for coal block allotment as he was holding the coal portfolio for four years from July 2005 to May 2009 during which the minister of state was from the Congress. rasad said about 70 coal blocks were allotted in 12 years from 1993 to 2005 whereas the UPA government allotted 145 coal blocks in just three years from 2006 to 2009.

Showcause

Patna: Patna divisional commissioner K.P. Ramaiah on Saturday asked Patna city sub-divisional officer (SDO) to file his showcause notice by August 31 explaining the reasons as to why the complaint which was forwarded to him in April could not be disposed of despite the commissioner’s directive. The commissioner indicated that departmental proceedings could be initiated against the SDO if his reply is not found to be satisfactory.
