Relief to lightning victims

Patna: Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday expressed grief over death of six children struck by lightning in Purnea. he chief minister announced ex gratia payment of Rs 1 lakh to the family of the victims.

Patna: Deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi said on Sunday if a licence application of a cinema owner is not disposed of in three months, then it would be presumed that the application has been approved.

Criticism

Patna: The BJP on Sunday took exception to RJD leader Raghuvansh Prasad Singh’s statement in which he criticised the state government over the Forbesganj firing. Party spokesperson Prem Ranjan Patel said instead of raising issues like corruption and price rise, the RJD was trying to malign the NDA government without any substantial reason.

Protest

Patna: The family members of one Rudal Rajak, who died under mysterious circumstances at the Beur Central Jail a couple of days ago, on Sunday blocked a road, alleging excessive police beating had caused the death. Rajak, who had got a non-bailable warrant against him, was arrested and brought to the police station on June 14.

Certificate

Patna: A bag containing provisional certificates of Intermediate Arts, 2011, meant for distribution among students, was found from the Rajendra Nagar terminus platform no 4. The certificates were to be deposited at the Bihar School Examination Board office.

Vacation over

Patna: Most of the city schools will open on June 20 after the summer vacations.
