Acid attack on girl

Siwan, Sept. 26 (PTI): A 15-year-old girl suffered severe burn injuries after a criminal threw acid on her near Hariath village in Siwan on Wednesday. olice said the victim was walking to a coaching institute when the person threw acid on her head and face. The victim was rushed to Patna Medical College and Hospital.

Puja vigil

Patna: Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday ordered to maintain a strict vigil during the coming festive season in the state at a review meeting at Samastipur district guest house. He asked director-general of police Abhayanand to maintain special administrative surveillance and close watch on the people having criminal background.

Birthday wish

Patna: Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday wished Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on his 80th birthday.

Arrested

Patna: One Nagendra Singh, wanted in several cases in Maner and Bihta police stations of the state capital was arrested on Wednesday.

Protest

Patna: All India Democratic Students Organisation activists, Bihar state committee on Wednesday staged a rally against the state government for not holding university election.

Imprisonment

Patna: Special vigilance judge Ramesh Chandra Singh on Wednesday sentenced former junior engineer of electricity board (Ara) Mohammad Jakaria and a clerk Vishwanath Sharma to two years’ rigorous imprisonment. Both were caught while allegedly taking a bribe of from one Ravindra Kumar in 2006.

Robbers held

Buxar: Two alleged train robbers Navami Paswa and Ravi Kumar alias Sonu, were arrested by Buxar Government Railway Police and Bhojpur police from Buxar railway station.

Hostage

Purnea (PTI): Four policemen on Wednesday were held hostage by tribals who were protesting administrative action for encroaching on a land in Parora village of Purnea.
