Demand for cops’ dismissal

Patna: People’s Union for Civil Liberties has recommended the dismissal of Bikramganj sub-divisional police officer and some other policemen, who were involved in opening fire on a group of demonstrators on July 23 last. The people were protesting against the rise in the incidents of crime at Gorari market in Rohtas district. three-member team visited Gogari on August 2 to inquire the alleged police high handedness.

Trader shot at

Patna: A businessman of Buxar, Rajendra Keshari, (50), was shot dead by armed criminals at his shop on Buxar main road under the Town police station on Sunday.

Nano snag

Chhapra: Shyam Sunder Prasad Gupta of Dahiyawan tola mohalla on Sunday lodged a case before consumers’ forum against Tata Motors and demanded that his Nano be replaced and a compensation of Rs 1.5 lakh be paid. Gupta had to repair the car six times in as many months as it kept developing snag.

Chhapra: Vice-chairman of Legislative Council Salim Parvej at a seminar said corruption is hampering development works in the district.

Raxaul: Several activists associated with different social, educational and cultural organisations brought out a protest march against the Centre’s attitude towards corruption.

Truck seized

Raxaul: At least 18 tonnes of jaggery have been seized by the Sashastra Seema Bal personnel when a truck carrying the commodity was trying to enter Nepal on Sunday.

Repair fund

Chhapra: Rural development minister Bhim Singh on Sunday said every MLA and MLC have been provided a fund of Rs 50 lakh for recommendation of repair of roads in their area.
