Patna: The high court, paving the way for appointment and selection of power distribution franchisee in four cities, including Patna, has dismissed a petition filed by Essar Power Ltd challenging the decision of Bihar State Power (Holding) Company Ltd to cancel its letter of intent. bench of Justice Shailesh Kumar Sinha said: “In the result, for the reasons and discussions above, the action of the board according to its letter dated September 20, 2012 (Annexure 15), cannot be faulted. The writ application being devoid of merit is dismissed.” Gopalganj: An assistant sub-inspector of police, Birendra Kumar Singh, died on Monday when a truck hit his bike near Dunariaghat on NH-28.
