Meet to review scholarship

Patna: Deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi on Monday held a high-level meeting to review scholarship distribution scheme among students belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and backward class and extremely backward class of the state. uring the meeting, SC, ST, Backward Class and Extremely Backward Class department secretary Ravi Parmar informed Modi that the department has distributed pre-matriculation scholarships of Rs 1,050 crore among the students of these categories 2012-13 against Rs 120 crore last year.

Farewell

Patna: The farewell party of students of session 2012-13 of International School was organised in the school auditorium on Monday. F. Hasan, director and N. Alam, principal, addressed the outgoing batch. Mementos and titles were also given to the students.

Lecture

Patna: Nobel Prize winner Prof Joseph Stiglitz will deliver Asian Development Research Institute (ADRI) foundation lecture on “Redefining capitalism” on January 14 at hotel Maurya. The lecture will be presided over by chief minister Nitish Kumar. Deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi and education minister P.K. Shahi will be guests of honour at the event.

Rally

Patna: Former Rajya Sabha member Upendra Kushwaha would flag off four raths on January 15 to garner support for his proposed rally on March 3 at Gandhi Maidan. Kushwaha is expected to announce his new party in the rally.
