Patna: The Election Commission on Monday announced bypoll to the Rajya Sabha seat that fell vacant following the resignation of Upendra Kushwaha on January 4. ccording to the poll schedule, the last date of filing nomination is February 4. The polling will be held on February 14 from 9am to 4pm. The counting of votes would start after 5pm. Patna: A high court bench on Monday stayed the cancellation of allotment of government quarters of Grade-III employees and also asked the state government to file its reply within 10 days. The government cancelled allotment of around 75 government quarters located at R-Block and water tower for construction of flats for legislators. The cabinet fixed Rs 28,250 as house rent and other allowances, which would be paid to legislators whose flats would be demolished. Patna: Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Monday expressed grief on the sad demise of RJD MLC Badshah Prasad Azad. Azad would be cremated with full state honours. In his condolence message, Nitish said Azad was a very good person and his death has left a void in the state’s politics. Patna: Around 20 progressive farmers from the state would participate in a training programme under Diyara Development Project at Narendra Deo Agriculture and Technology University, Faizabad, from January 21 to 25, an agriculture department release stated. This is the eighth phase of training which has benefited farmers of 25 districts of the state.
