Civil service order

Patna: A high court division bench of Chief Justice Rekha M. Doshit and Justice A.K. Singh on Friday reserved the judgment after hearing both sides on a petition filed by Sunil Kumar and others challenging the publication of results of the 53rd to 55th civil services mains examination. he petitioner challenged the publication of results on the ground that the commission did not adopt the Union Public Service Commission’s norms for carrying out moderation for the purpose of declaring the results. The petitioner’s counsel, Dinu Kumar, questioned how the BPSC could carry out moderation in the absence of any rule in this regard.

Cancer call

Patna: Doctors associated with Cancer Awareness Society on Friday expressed disappointment over the state government’s move to roll back the tax on raw tobacco (khaini) in the state. They criticised the government saying that its decision is anti-people because it would lead to increase in cancer cases.

Death ruckus

Buxar: Family members of a pregnant woman, who died in Sadar hospital in Ara, created a ruckus on Friday. They demanded action against the doctors responsible for her death. Sources said the woman identified as Sandhya Kumari (21), the wife of one Santosh Kumar Singh, was brought dead to the hospital.

Security appeal

Patna: The high court division bench on Friday directed the state government to provide protection to RTI and social activist Vikash Chandra Guddu Baba who was allegedly misbehaved with by some people on way to the court. uddu has filed a PIL seeking direction to remove squatters from the premises of six medical colleges.

Ghat duties

Patna: The civic body has divided the duties among field officials who would be responsible for keeping the different Chhath ghats in good shape. The corporation on Friday issued a detailed list of officials who have been given the responsibility.
