IAS officers shuffle

Patna: K.K. Pathak, the principal secretary of mines department, was made additional member of the Revenue Board on Friday. The shuffled around 10 IAS officials, including Darbhanga commissioner R.K. Khandelwal who has been released for central deputation.

Amitabh Verma and S.K. Singh, who have returned from central deputation, were made chief adviser, Bihar State Planning Parishad, and agriculture commissioner, respectively. Alok Ranjan Ghose has been named the district magistrate of Jehanabad and Satish Kumar Singh the district magistrate of Arwal.

Murder probe

Muzaffarpur: CBI officials on Thursday night picked up a property dealer for interrogation in connection with the murder of 12-year-old Navruna Chakravorty from Muzaffarpur in September 2012. Ward councillor Rakesh Kumar Sinha Pappu, who was earlier arrested in the case, was produced in the special CBI court on Friday.

Mineral body

Patna: The government will form a new corporation to replace the Bihar State Mineral Development Corporation, in existence since 1972, to regulate the sale of sand and other minerals in a day or two.

LED lights

Patna: All streetlights under urban local bodies will have LED lights, deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi said on Friday. The work, under the streetlight national programme, will be carried out in three phases.

Varsity land

Bhagalpur: Union minister of state for human resource development Upendra Kushwaha on Friday alleged that chief minister Nitish Kumar's indifferent attitude towards the Vikramshila central university was delaying the land acquisition process.

Shot at

Sasaram: Tilauthu resident Arun Mahto (40) was shot at and critically injured near Dhankaha village under Sasaram Mufassil police station in Rohtas district. He has been admitted to a local private hospital.

Srijan jab

Patna: Shivanand Tiwari, RJD vice-president, on Friday attacked chief minister Nitish Kumar over the Rs 1,000-crore Srijan scam. Tiwari said no one will believe Nitish when he says he was unaware about the scam.

Flood relief

Patna: Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences employees, led by director N.R. Biswas and medical superintendent Prabhat Kumar Sinha, donated a day's salary to the chief minister's flood relief fund on Friday.
