5 cops killed

Patna: Five people, four of them policemen, were crushed to death by a speeding truck in Muzaffarpur early on Monday near Akurahan Dhala (Panapur).

Vishwamohan Sharma, Farman Ansari, Munna Chaudhary and Vijay Chaudhary were killed, while a passer-by, Sanjeev Choudhary, was also killed. Deputy superintendent of police Krishna Murari Prasad and Panapur police station sub-inspector D.N. Jha were hurt.

Hygiene drive

Patna: The Bihar BJP would launch a weeklong and state-wide sanitation drive from September 17, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday, state BJP chief Nityanand Rai said on Monday.

Patna: Elections for the posts of 16 members of the Patna Metropolitan Area committee would be held on September 16, a press note issued by the state election commission said on Monday. The election for the post of vice-chairman of the committee would be held on September 13.
