Modi on Tejashwi house

Patna: Deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi on Friday suggested that Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, the leader of Opposition in the Assembly, should accept the house the government has allotted to him in his present capacity.

Modi questioned Tejashwi's attachment to the government bungalow that had been allotted to him when he was in the Grand Alliance government.

Scribe murder

Patna: The CBI on Friday submitted the case diary of Siwan journalist Rajdev Ranjan's murder in the special CBI court in Muzaffarpur. The court will take cognisance of a supplementary chargesheet filed earlier on September 22.

Bribery arrest

Patna: Vigilance investigation bureau sleuths arrested Banka forest range officer Anil Kumar on Friday on the charge of accepting Rs 12,000 bribe from Sunil Mandal for help in a case related to Wildlife Act.

'Wisdom' jab

Patna: BJP national secretary Rajnish Kumar on Friday questioned the wisdom of Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi and claimed he was taking the side of RJD leader Lalu Prasad in the hope of getting power in future.

Sanitation

Patna: Ruby Devi, mukhiya (panchayat head) of Abirajpur panchayat in Sheohar district, has accused the district administration of not taking action on irregularities in implementation of the sanitation scheme. She said on Friday that she would continue her fast-unto-death, which started on Wednesday, till her demand is met.

Bail

Patna: The high court single bench of Justice Arvind Srivastava on Friday granted anticipatory bail to former BJP MLC Manoj Kumar Singh. The former legislator had been accused of murdering and kidnapping two persons at Pachrukhi in Siwan district in 2015.

Soil-less farm

Patna: The agriculture department will conduct special training programmes to make farmers aware of hydroponics - growing plants without soil, minister Prem Kumar said on Friday. He said the new technique would be beneficial for those who don't have sufficient land for farming.

Relief fund

Patna: Chief general manager of State Bank of India, Patna, Sandeep Tiwari on Friday donated Rs 1 crore to the chief minister's relief fund under corporate social responsibility.

Blood bank irregularities

Patna, Sept. 8: Darbhangha district magistrate Chandrashekhar Singh has recommended that the health department conduct a high-level probe into the upkeep of blood and maintain a collection register at the Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital's (DMCH's) blood bank. The junior doctors' association at DMCH had earlier alleged that the hospital had provided expired blood to patients because of which eight patients died. The DMCH administration constituted a three-member probe panel, which submitted its report to the Darbhanga DM. According to the report, the DM said, no expired blood existed in the blood bank but irregularities were found in upkeep of blood storage and overwriting in registers, for which he recommended a higher-level probe.

Five sentenced to life for murder

Muzaffarpur (PTI): Five persons, including two women, were today sentenced to life imprisonment by a court here in a two-year-old murder case. Additional district judge-II Prabhakar Mishra convicted the five for the murder of Bindeshwar Mahato on April 9, 2015, at Bhagwanpur in Muzaffarpur district. The court also imposed a penalty of Rs 10,000 on each of the convicts. Mahto was beaten to death following a land dispute.
