Scuffle in airport

here was a commotion at Patna airport on Thursday after some men allegedly manhandled family members of a girl who was to board GoAir’s flight G8-344 to Delhi at 6pm. ources said the girl had married a boy from her native place Muzaffarpur in a court recently but her family disapproved of the match and had beaten up the boy. They planned to separate her from him by sending her away to London. The boy’s side landed up at the airport to stop the girl. t the time of filing of the report, the airport police had detained the boy and the girl but no FIR had been lodged.

Land bribe

Patna: Vigilance bureau sleuths on Thursday arrested Suresh Kumar, a revenue employee of Nalanda’s Harnaut block, while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 3,500.

One Ramnarayan Prasad had lodged a complaint claiming Kumar was asking for bribe in lieu of mutation.

Life term

Ara: The civil court on Thursday awarded life term to two persons — Lambu Sharma and Shambhu Sharma — for planting a bomb on the court premises in 2009, killing an advocate and injuring at least six lawyers.

Infant sex assault

Ara (PTI): Police on Thursday said an infant girl was raped in Bhojpur district on Wednesday evening. he accused, who is absconding, had taken away the four-year-old of a tea vendor to an isolated place and raped her before fleeing the place, Bhojpur superintendent of police Satyaveer Singh said. The infant was rushed to sadar hospital and then referred to Patna Medical College and Hospital. A medical examination has confirmed rape, the SP said.

Victim

Patna: A seven-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her neighbour in the Ashok Nagar area on Wednesday night. The accused has been arrested.

Job fair

Patna: Patna University will organise a job fair on April 14 at the Patna College ground, said acting vice-chancellor U.K. Sinha on Thursday.

Patna: The 33th annual convention of the Bihar Jharkhand Rajya Vidyut Parishad Field Kamgar Union started in Patna on Thursday. The union president criticised chief minister Nitish Kumar’s claims of providing power connection to all by 2015 as a political gimmick.

Patna: A double bench of the high court on Thursday directed the urban development department and Patna Municipal Corporation to file a status report on the encroachment of land in Gardanibagh and Jakkanpur area within one week.

Inquiry order

Patna: A single bench of the high court on Thursday directed the Gopalganj superintendent of police to make an inquiry into the issuance of alleged fake order of the district teachers’ employment appellate authority regarding appointment of panchayat teachers. The court was hearing a writ petition.
