CBSE exam appeal

Patna: Sumit Raj, the Class XII examinee allegedly beaten up at the DAV BSEB centre, has sent an application to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, on Thursday. he board has been requested to let Sumit sit for the business studies paper. The exam was scheduled on Wednesday.

Fuel alerts

Patna: Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd on Thursday launched a scheme of registering customers at its fuel stations around the country from its Dakbungalow outlet. Registered customers would be given a sticker (to be pasted on their car windscreens), scanning which they would receive text message and email alert whenever they fill their vehicles at fuelling bays at the pumps.

Reply order

Patna: A high court division bench on Thursday directed the government to file its reply within four weeks on a PIL seeking directions to authorities concerned in Bhabhua town to stop the butchering of pigs and sale of pork in the town.

Dowry death

Buxar: A woman was allegedly burnt to death by her in-laws on Thursday in Araila village under the jurisdiction of Dumraon police station. ources said she was killed because her father failed to give a buffalo as dowry to the deceased’s husband. The deceased has been identified as Kiran Devi (20). Her body was sent for post-mortem late Thursday evening.

Bribe arrest

Patna: In two separate raids, officers of the state vigilance bureau arrested an assistant sub-inspector and a revenue officer when they were allegedly accepting bribe on Thursday.

Site shift

Patna: A high court division bench on Thursday directed petitioner Kushwaha Vikas Panchayat Samiti to make its representation before Patna district magistrate with regard to relocation of a kerosene oil depot from the densely populated Rampur Mussalapur Bazaar Samiti to a remote area of the city.

Art awards

Patna: Art, culture and youth affairs minister Sukhada Pandey on Thursday said the department would award 20 artistes from the fields of performing and visual arts for the year 2012-13.

Patna: Unidentified students assaulted a few members of All India Students’ Federation on Thursday.
