Patna, Feb. 23: The regional office of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Patna, will shift to a new building in the Rajabazaar area of the state capital on February 27.
CBSE regional officer S.U. Sorte today told The Telegraph: “We will shift to the new five-storeyed building on Monday. The office will function from there.”
The new building at Rajabazaar is on rent. It would have a conference hall and the officers would get separate cabins. The computer section of the office is in a separate section. Ample parking space is also available at the new office.
At present, the CBSE regional office, functions from the eighth floor of a building on Frazer Road. The office, which started functioning from 2008, neither has a godown nor a parking facility. Cabins are merely divided by plywood partitions in a small area at the office and there is no proper storage space.
Once the regional office shifts to the new address in Rajabazaar, parking would cease to be a problem for visitors and officers alike.
A CBSE official said: “We did not have space for storing materials. But now that we are shifting to a building that will entirely belong to us (on rent), there won’t be any such problem. It’s important to maintain the sanctity of the CBSE office. We do not need to be worried about issues like storage and parking facility. We also had to rely on schools for verification of confidential records.”
A school principal echoed the official’s view.
The principal told The Telegraph: “CBSE had to take the help of schools for verification of confidential records and other things. We did not like this, as verification of records like continuous and comprehensive evaluation should be done only at the CBSE office. Now as the office is shifting to a new location, it can function properly and would not have to take the help of schools for little things.”
Another school principal said: “The CBSE regional office was facing problems because of scarcity of space right from the start. It was a big problem and the sanctity of the office was not maintained. This (the shifting of the CBSE regional office to the building in Rajabazaar) is good news for all of us.”
