Musical end to college fest

Students cheer during Pragyotsav, the platinum jubilee fest at Patna Women's College, on Saturday. Music and entertainment took centre stage on the concluding day of the fest, which started on Thursday. On the final day, students showcased their talent in the dance and music competition. Exquisite, a musical band in the state, set the mood of the day. The band's vocalist Zeeshan Faridy dedicated the song, Tum hi ho, to the Patna Women's College principal. Rock band Faridkot from Delhi and Half Past Seven from Mumbai entertained the students. Another Delhi band Alteropus performed on the campus. Elocution in Hindi and English, and photography contests were held. In the photography contest, Nisha Kumari of NIFT, Priyanka of Patna Women's College and Rahul Anand of St Xavier's College, bagged the first, second and third positions, respectively. In the Hindi elocution contest, Shubhangi and Shikha of the host college got the first and third prizes, respectively, and Shubham of College of Commerce came second.The students had a gala time at the fest. Aditya Anand, a student of Chanakya National Law University, said: 'I will cherish and remember the memories of these three days. I enjoyed everything from the contest and food to the music and dance. I hope the college will organise such programmes again.'Roshni Gupta, a student of Patna Women's College, said: 'The final day of the fest is more colourful and exciting. This is the first of its kind of event that the college has organised. This fest is a combination of talent and fun.' Not only the students, the teachers also enjoyed to the fullest. Minati Chahlanavis, the head of bachelor of mass communication department, said: 'Despite the bad weather, the students turned up in huge numbers for the competitions. Everything went smooth as planned. The campus is full of students and the event turned out to be a success.'To make the fest more entertaining and colourful, the sponsors set up stalls for the students and gave some exciting offers, including lucky draw, buy one get one free, assured gifts on purchase of any item and free makeover (nail art, hairstyle and make-up). Dr Sister Marie Jessi, the college principal, said: 'The concept of this fest is new. I hope the students enjoyed the three-day fest and especially the inter- college competitions. I congratulate all the winners and also those who did not win can try again next time. Rock band Faridkot from Delhi, †half past seven’ a musical band from Mumbai entertained the students and Alteropus band's guitarist Abhishek Verma performed live on the college campus in evening.MJ Zeeshan expressed his excitement and said, “We have done various programmes in Delhi, Patna and Mumbai, but we never saw such a huge gathering. And the audiences are very enthusiastic and they just like to be entertained. It’s our first show in this college, and we got a lot appraisal from the students and the audience.�Students were enjoying the fest with their pals. One of the students of Chanakya National Law University, Aditya Anand said, “These three days are the most memorable moment of my life. I enjoyed the contest, food, music, dance and everything. I hope the college will organize such type of multi competition programme again.�Another student of Roshni Gupta of Patna Women’s College said, “The final day of the fest are more colourful and exciting. We never enjoyed any event of our college that much. This fest is the great combo of talent and fun.�The crowd went wild on every beat of music.
