Patna, Sept. 25: The state government has given six weeks’ time to the five shortlisted architecture firms to prepare the design of an international museum to be constructed on the Bailey Road in the city.

The five firms include Austria-based Coop Himmelb(l)au with Archohm (Indian partner), London-based Foster and Partners with CP Kukreja & Associates (Indian partner), Japan-based Maki & Associates with Opolis (Indian partner), Norway-based Snohetta with Spacematters (Indian partner) and USA-based Studio Daniel Libeskind with Morphogenisis (Indian partner).

Human resource development (HRD) department principal secretary Anjani Kumar Singh, who is also the nodal officer of international museum, told The Telegraph: “The design of one of these firms will be selected and that particular firm would be entrusted with the museum work. The design of the firm will be made open for public scrutiny through the Internet.”

After the design is made open to the people, it will be made open to art lovers across the world, who would then be able to send their suggestions.

Reviews will also be collected from international art magazines. Based on the review, there will be an international conference where the state government officials, the firm selected for preparing the design, and leading architectural experts would be present. The conference will be online.

The museum is a road construction department project but the ministry of art, culture and HRD department are also partners. Singh said: “This is probably the first time in India that a museum has garnered such class of architects.”
