Bhagalpur, Nov. 25: Cattle thieves shot at villagers at Jagatpur hamlet in the district’s Naugachia sub-division this morning, killing two and injuring two others.

Naugachia superintendent of police (SP) Dhiraj Kumar said two oxen of Dinesh Mandal (35), a Jagatpur resident, went missing last evening.

“Around 10-12 armed cattle lifters opened fire on Dinesh and his co-villagers, when they tried to free the latter’s cattle from a Tata 407 parked at Jagatpur market,” the SP said.

Dinesh and Jaykaran Yadav were admitted to Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial College and Hospital with serious injuries.
