Patna, Sept. 28: The government is set to pitch its tent in Mumbai, the country’s financial capital, in a bid to project Bihar as an investment-friendly destination.
Principal secretary, industries, Afzal Amanullah said a new post of commissioner (investments) is in the process of being created and the office will be based in Mumbai.
“It will be a full set-up consisting of the commissioner and other officials. Its office will be set up in Mumbai at a cost of Rs 1.72 crore approximately. The empowered committee of the state has given its approval. The proposal will be presented before the state cabinet very soon for final approval,” he said.
The move comes in the wake of the first meeting of the Bihar State Industrial Investment Advisory Council earlier this month.
Sources said the office in Mumbai would facilitate investment proposals.
“The commissioner will be a senior IAS officer and will report to the principal secretary, industries,” said a source.
Industry welcomed the move, saying most corporate offices of big business houses are located in Mumbai.
