Patna, June 18: Around half- a-dozen supporters of RJD MLA Bhai Virendra allegedly went to Dayanand Vidyalaya around 11am today claiming that they wanted to talk to the principal but retreated when the police were informed about their arrival.
"We called up Jakkanpur police station house officer (SHO) about their arrival, after which he asked them to leave the place immediately. They went away soon after," Dayanand Vidyalaya principal Ramesh Prasad said.
Prasad has lodged a complaint at the police station, and submitted an application to the Patna senior superintendent of police also requesting that an FIR be lodged against the RJD MLA from Maner constituency in the district over the alleged takeover bid of the school.
"We submitted a complaint at Jakkanpur police station on Friday night with details about the incident, requesting the police to take suitable action against Virendra and his supporters and register an FIR against them. We have also requested security to stop such people from entering the school and disturb the teaching process in their attempt to grab it," Prasad added.
The police complaint came after yesterday's incident in which Prasad had alleged that the RJD MLA had barged into the school with 35-40 supporters, and had forcibly taken his signatures on plain papers in a bid to take over the school. He had also alleged that the lawmaker's supporters had roughed him up.
SHO Alok Kumar confirmed receipt of the complaint. "A police officer has been deputed to probe the matter."
Dayanand Vidyalaya, established in 1928, belongs to the Arya Samaj, and is located at Mithapur. The Plus Two boys' school is spread over around 40,000sqft in a prime location, whose value at current market prices would run into crores. The state government has given it the status of a minority educational institution and provides funds for the salary and pension for teachers and other officials, and also for the school's maintenance.
Principal Prasad iterated that the school is run by a management committee consisting of nine members, as stipulated by its bylaws and it does not come under the Bihar Rajya Arya Pratinidhi Sabha of which Virendra claims to be the "pradhan" or head.
Virendra, however, feigned ignorance about the incident in which his supporters had gone to the school today but said he had the power to constitute the management committee of the school by dint of being the sabha head. The RJD MLA said: "The entire conspiracy has been cooked by former MLC and BJP leader Ganga Prasad, who was the sabha head, until I was unanimously elected in his place in September 2015. He has been indulging in several wrongdoings, and his role in the school should be probed."
Asked why he did not approach the court if wanted the eviction of illegal occupants as alleged by him, Virendra replied: "They should go to court as they are staying there illegally. I had just gone to my office in the school. I did not do anything wrong there. Ganga and the principal have committed financial irregularities and they are now on the verge of getting exposed, so they created the entire scene."
The lawmaker also said that principal Prasad and Ganga Prasad themselves made the school's by-laws to capture it.
On the other hand, Ganga said he was a member of the management committee of the school as one of the two main donors and the RJD MLA has no right over the school.
"I am the real head of the sabha, and am involved in the school as a management committee member. The state government has three members in the form of deputy director (secondary education), regional deputy director (education) and district education officer in the committee. If Virendra has any problem he is welcome to move court in the matter," Ganga said.
About the entire matter, education minister Ashok Choudhary said he did not have knowledge of the intricacies and the secondary education director should be approached.
Secondary education director Rajiv Prasad Singh Ranjan refused to elaborate on the matter and cut the call, saying he was "busy at a crowded place".
