Patna: A sports utility vehicle (SUV) belonging to JDU MLA Ramanand Singh was stolen from outside his residence at Lohia Nagar under Kankarbagh police station early morning on Sunday.
Singh, the JDU MLA from Parbatta in Khagaria, lives with his family in his own house, MIG-350, at Lohia Nagar. As many people parked their vehicles outside their houses, Singh too used to do it. On Sunday when Singh's family woke up they were shocked to discover that the SUV parked outside the house was missing.
The family checked the CCTV footage of the house but it was found that the CCTV cameras had been switched off. The incident raises serious lapses on poor law and order situation in state especially police patrolling. However, , however, said there is no law and order problem in Patna. and it should not be stated as poor law and order issue," Singh said
The Opposition, however, slammed the government over the issue. RJD MLA Ejya Yadav said: "The incident exposes that even ministers and MLAs are not safe in Patna. Nitish has become a weak chief minister and law and order is out of his control."The incident exposes poor law and order situation in state capital. The Patna police as part of regular policing have introduced several measures such as night patrolling, by different police squads, but all these have fail to yield desired results.
Sources said that in past few months' cases of theft has gone up in state capital. On September 9, a bike of police inspector posted with special branch was stolen Harnichak in Beur area. Similarly on last week of August, burglars broke open three ATMs in state capital decamping with cash stored in it."
