This Durga Puja, revellers can be assured of medical help in case of an emergency.
The health department has made arrangements to avert any kind of crisis during Ravan Vadh on the day of Vijay Dashami. As the programme involves the risk of fire mishaps, the district civil surgeon’s office has decided to rope in a special team near the site to ensure medical assistance in case of any accident.
Ambulances would be deployed at major sites during Durga Puja. “Twelve ambulances would be deployed from tomorrow (Saturday) at major sites such as Collectorate Ghat, Buddha Ghat, Bhadra Ghat (Patna City) and other places. Sheikhpura-based voluntary organisation Chikitsa Healthcare has provided us two ambulances. We might increase the number of ambulances,” said Dr K.K. Mishra, the district civil surgeon. He said the 108 and 1099 ambulances would be deployed.
The district civil surgeon said in case of any emergency, residents could call on the helpline number 9470003600.
“We have asked paramedical staff and technicians of ambulances to wear their identity cards so that if they fail to perform their duties, residents can identify them and can make a complaint to us. Negligence would not be tolerated at all,” he added.
Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) and Nalanda Medical College and Hospital (NMCH), too, have made arrangements to ensure proper health aid. “Our emergency ward would be run 24x7. We have asked the heads of departments to make sure that all doctors are present during their duty hours. We have stocked up on necessary medicines to treat emergency patients,” said Dr Lakhendra Prasad, superintendent, PMCH.
