A team of Medical Council of India (MCI) would visit Shri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH) by October 30 for an in-depth inspection.
SKMCH principal D.K. Sinha said the health hub deposited the inspection fee with the MCI last month.
The MCI has informed the SKMCH that the inspectors would pay a visit to the health hub by the end of October for a thorough inspection. The team would minutely assess the infrastructure available at the health hub.
Earlier, the MCI gave its consent to the SKMCH, which already had 50 seats, to increase 50 more seats in the MBBS course from 2014-2015. This year, the SKMCH took admissions for 100 seats in the MBBS course following necessary consent of the MCI.
Sinha said: “The college has swung into action to complete the necessary formalities. Leave applications of the doctors and the employees have been cancelled ahead of the MCI inspection.”
In 2012, the MCI had carried out an inspection at the SKMCH and directed it to complete the shortcomings in the library, classrooms, operation theatres, quarters for doctors, students hostels and others.
More than 100 quarters for doctors and two hostels for students have been constructed. Potable water towers and feeders have been installed at the new hostels to provide water and electricity round-the-clock. The existing five hostels have also been renovated.
Accommodation for the patients’ attendants has also been made on the health hub campus. The SKMCH principal said they are also planning to set up an indoor stadium and auditorium on the health hub campus.
Principal Sinha added that several vacant posts of doctors and auxiliary nurse midwives (ANM) had also been filled up.
