Patna, July 11: The CBSE Class X and Class XII examinees have learnt the date when they can take the retest for the subjects they have scored poorly. But the Class X passouts are still in the dark about when they will get their board ex- am marksheets.
The CBSE Class XII examinees will get another chance to clear the papers in which they have got compartmental marks on July 16 — the date fixed by the board for the exam. The Class X examinees would also get a second chance to clear the papers in which they have “improvemental” grades. Their exams will start on July 16 and go on till July 23.
The Class XII students are allowed to take retest if they have compartmental only in one subject. Those who have compartmental in more than one subject have been marked failed. Class X students are allowed to take “improvement” exams in as many subjects as necessary.
K.K. Jain, deputy director, CBSE, Patna region, said: “Around 12,000 students from both the classes would take the examinations. There are 10 centres for the students of Bihar. All of them are in Patna. The centres are Notre Dame Academy, Loyola High School, Gyan Niketan, DAV-BSEB, DAV-Khagaul, Army School, Danapur Cantonment, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Danapur Cantonment, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Bailey Road, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Kankerbagh and Kendriya Vidyalaya, Khagaul.”
Sonu Singh, a student who has applied for compartmental examination, said: “I scored low marks in a paper though I had expected more. I am now looking forward to the compartmental examination. After the results of that are published, I will try to get admitted in some institute for higher studies.”
Singh said he aspires to be a marine engineer. However, that depends on the results of the exam he would take on July 16.
The Class X passouts who have taken provisional admission in schools outside the state are scared that they would be in trouble if they do not get the marksheets on time.
One such student said: “My school knows that no student across the country has got the marksheet. Still, I have been asked to submit the marksheet. I have requested for some more time but I am not sure when I will get it.”
B.S. Meena, assistant secretary, CBSE, Patna region, said: “No date has been decided upon yet, as far as the issuing of marksheets is concerned. The marksheets are being printed. As soon as they are ready, the schools will get them.”
Sources said the marksheets would be handed over to the schools by the third week of July.
The Class X passouts would get the grades of the continuous and comprehensive evaluation (CCE). It would reflect the grades of internal assessments of both classes IX and X.
The sources added that the CCE system introduced this year was the cause of the delay. As the proc- ess involves taking care of a number of details, it has delayed the printing of marksheets.
