Patna, Jan. 20: Schools under the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will conduct summative assessment-2 (SA-2) for Class IX in the first half of March, whereas students of Class X would be taking their examination in the second half of the month.
Both these examinations will be held for students who have opted for the school-conducted examination.
CBSE has instructed the schools to have English and science papers for Class X only after March 23.
The board has said that it would send CDs of question papers to the schools conducting the summative assessment tests before February 20 for Class IX and by March 7 for Class X.
Sources said continuous and comprehensive evaluation is already in process in CBSE schools.
Implemented from the 2009-10 session, this applies to both Class IX and X. Marks obtained by students in continuous and comprehensive evaluation are added to their aggregate at the end of the session.
O.P. Singh, the vice-principal of Patna Central School, said: “The examinations have been divided in two terms and this applies to both classes IX and X. The first term comprises formative assessment-1 (FA-1), FA-2 and SA-1, whereas the second term comprises FA-3, FA-4 and SA-2. The first term adds to 40 per cent of the final marks and the second term to the rest 60 per cent marks.”
