College of Commerce, Arts and Science principal Baban Singh felicitated the students who topped in their undergraduate and Intermediate streams for the 2016-17 session at a programme on the campus on February 9.

Singh said education was the only way a student could excel in life. “In a competitive age, students should be focused on their goals. It is expected from a student that when s/he enters college, they have set a career path for themselves,” he said, stressing on the need to give importance to extracurricular activities.

Anshu Arya, the Intermediate mathematics topper, said: “It is a proud moment to receive certificates from the principal for being one of the toppers from the college.”

Anshu aspires to become an engineer and said she is working hard to crack the IIT entrance test.

College teachers, students and staff members attended the programme and also pledged to make their institution one of the best in the state. The college also felicitated principal Singh for the honour conferred upon him by the Association of Indian College Principals.

The association honoured Singh for his contribution towards the College of Commerce being awarded the Grade A by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, at its 48th international conference held in Coimbatore. Singh also presented a paper on “Make in India and challenges of higher education” at the conference held from February 4-6.
