Patna: Patna district magistrate (DM) Kumar Ravi on Wednesday inspected Gandhi Maidan to review preparations for the Id namaz to be offered on June 15 or 16 (depending on citing of the moon).

Every Id, a special namaz is offered on the ground. The DM laid special emphasis on cleanliness of the ground apart from keeping stray dogs and other animals away. Chief minister Nitish Kumar, too, attends the special namaz. Around 40,000 devotees are expected. The DM instructed installation of a door-frame metal detector device at every entrance.

"Adequate security arrangements are being made on the ground," Ravi said. The district administration has closed Gandhi Maidan to morning walkers. The ground will now be available after Id namaz.

The Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) has been instructed to keep the ground clean, apart from using fogging machine to rid it of insects.

Patna traffic superintendent of police P.N. Mishra issued orders on Wednesday barring heavy vehicles from entering Patna City from 5pm to 2am owing to shopping crowd. They can enter only from 2-7am. Similarly, four-wheelers are not allowed in Sabzibagh area from 5pm to 1am. The rules are in effect from June 13 to 15.

PMC has also been asked to ensure water tankers on the ground for convenience of devotees.
