A revenge drama played all day at JLNMC hospital after a jilted lover stabbed a Class VIII student to death.
Soon after the girl was shifted to the hospital for post-mortem, family members of the 16-year-old rushed to the hospital seeking the boy’s head.
The 25-year-old youth, too, was admitted at the hospital because he had knifed himself after stabbing the girl 15 times at Warsaliganj on Wednesday night.
Tension gripped the town after the victim, a student of Sarau Devi Mohan Lal Girls’ High School, Mirjanhat, was stabbed in front of her sister and brother, while they were coming back from tuition. Soon after the girl fell to the ground, the boy stabbed himself.
On Thursday, a mob assembled at the hospital seeking the accused, Abhishek Kumar’s, head. Beena Kumari, the additional superintendent of police, Sunil Kumar, the sub-divisional officer, along with other officers tried to control the unruly mob.
“Hand him over to us, we will decide his fate,” some of the deceased’s kin, carrying weapons, shouted from the crowd.
Superintendent of police Vivek Kumar said: “Wednesday evening when the victim girl was returning with her siblings from a coaching centre, she was attacked by Abhishek Kumar with a dagger. It appears to be one-sided love. Her refusal compelled him to kill the girl.”
