Patna, Aug. 23: Passengers of the bird-hit IndiGo flight (6E 385) accused the private airline employees of not being prompt enough in accommodating them in other flights.
“I had a connecting flight from Delhi at 1.30pm for Riyadh. But after the bird-hit incident, the employees of IndiGo told me that I would be flown to Delhi in a flight scheduled to depart at 2.30pm. I persuaded them to accommodate me in the Delhi-bound Air India flight that was scheduled to depart at 9.20am. But I was told that such an arrangement was not possible because IndiGo did not have a tie-up with AI,” said Sufia Irfan, a resident of Patna and an employee in a private firm in Riyadh.
Irfan had booked her ticket from Delhi to Riyadh for Rs 40,000. But as she remained stranded in Patna, she would have to cancel it and buy a new ticket for more.
“Now, I will have to book a new ticket for a higher price because there will be huge rush of people returning to Saudi Arabia after the Id vacation,” said Irfan.
Some passengers had to wait for hours at Patna airport because IndiGo accommodated them either in the afternoon or evening flights.
“There was a minor scuffle between ground staff of IndiGo and some passengers, who wanted to leave immediately after the incident,” said Satyaprakash.
