Patna: Residents can enjoy music and food at Gandhi Maidan during a musical programme organised by Sri Krishna Smarak Vikas Samiti on January 1. The programme will be organised at the main stage near gate number one.

In Patna, there are already many places where residents can enjoy with their family members like Patna zoo and Eco Park, which are expected to witness the maximum footfall. With this new move, Gandhi Maidan would be one of the places where a large number of people will gather to watch the live musical bands.

The programme will be organised by private musical troop Cinemad Entertainment Pvt Ltd. Residents would not be charged for the show.

Patna divisional commissioner Anand Kishor, who heads the Sri Krishna Smarak Vikas Samiti under which the Gandhi Maidan falls, said: "On the occasion of New Year, we are organising the musical programme for the residents of Patna. It would be a three-hour programme from 11am. It is being jointly organised by the Samiti and the art, culture ad youth affairs department."

The work of putting up the stage is underway at Gandhi Maidan and labourers were found busy in erecting the stage. It would not take much time because there is already a cemented stage over which the programme would be held.

Local singer Abhishek Mishra and Naisha Takia will croon popular Bollywood numbers and arrangements are being made at the ground for more than 5,000 people. Apart from music, residents can also enjoy different delicacies as there are three food courts on the ground. One can enjoy meals in the food court where different cuisines like Bihari, continental, south Indian, Punjabi, Gujarati, Maharashtrian and Chinese would be served.

Kishor also extended best wishes to the people of Patna and urged them to celebrate the occasion in a peaceful manner and appealed not to trouble others for the sake of their own enjoyment. Tight security arrangements have been made by the district administration.

"Adequate police force and magistrates have been deputed at all the prominent places in Patna. For safety of children and women, personnel, including women, have been deployed in plain clothes," Kishor said.

The district administration and police have already issued a joint order a few days back and close monitoring is taking place on the consumption of liquor in the dry state.
