Patna, May 10: At least 30 live crude bombs, hidden in a field at Chulai Chak village under Rupaspur police station, were recovered by the police this morning. The field is located some 12km from the state capital.

Satyendra Singh, the land owner, noticed the bombs while working in the farm. They were kept in a small ditch and covered with leaves. The police were informed immediately. Soon, a police team arrived at the spot and started diffusing the bombs.

Police are still to find out who hid the bombs in the field.

Police sources said the ongoing panchayat polls could be a reason for planting the bombs in order to create panic, disorder and terror.

Police sources said since these bombs were lying in the open, they could have hurt anyone, especially the children who play in the area.

About the bomb’s intensity police sources said had they exploded, the impact could have been massive.

“Kids unknowingly could have started playing with the bombs, resulting in a fatal accident.

“Fortunately an adult noticed it and informed the police immediately,” said a police officer.

S.K. Mandal, the station house officer of Rupaspur police station, said: “The matter is being investigated.”

“Right now, it is not possible to say anything concrete about who kept the bombs here. But the matter is being investigated and the police will make a breakthrough soon,” he said.
