Sorry tale: The Digha grid |
The power situation in western Patna improved on Tuesday after restoration work was initiated to repair the damaged cable of 132KV transmission line.
A sudden technical snag in the 132/33KV overhead line and 132KV underground cable, which feeds power to Digha grid sub-station, threw life out of gear on Sunday afternoon and on Monday.
The transmission line, which was damaged, supplies power from 220/132/33KV Khagaul grid sub-station to Digha grid that in turn supplies power to important locations of western Patna.
The power company said electricity is being supplied on a rotation basis from alternative sources till the restoration work is completed.
“The cable joining work has been started. We are trying our best to repair the fault as soon as possible so that 24 hours of power supply is ensured in the affected areas,” Bihar State Power (Holding) Company Ltd (BSPHCL) deputy general manager (public relations) H.R. Pandey said.
On what is delaying the repair work, Pandey said: “The cable joining work is done by highly technical and licensed people in a dust-free environment. That’s why it is taking time.”
A company official said it would take at least three to four days to complete the repairing work. The power company on Monday had claimed that repair work would take three to four days. Though the work was started on Monday, it was intensified on Tuesday.
“Tuesday was certainly better than the past two days. Sunday was the worst hit because we had no idea when the supply would be restored. Power was supplied for an hour and then cut for another hour on a regular basis on Tuesday. We got power on an hourly basis,” said Digha resident Guddu, a decorator.
Pandey said the distribution company has been providing power for 16 hours on a rotation basis in the affected areas.
The state received around 2,000MW on Monday and Tuesday but Patna was supplied around 400MW on Monday, while the quantum of supply rose to 450MW on Tuesday.
