Patna: Left parties on Friday announced their support for Monday's Bharat bandh against skyrocketing petrol and diesel prices in Bihar after Opposition parties decided to hold mass demonstrations across the country.

Addressing a joint press conference of Left parties, CPI state secretary Satya Narayan Singh said: "The common man is bearing the brunt of rising fuel prices, which has led to a spike in prices of food items and increase in transportation costs. We have decided to stage state-wide demonstrations against the Centre's apathy."

The Congress has asked Opposition parties to extend support to the nationwide protests on September 10 against rising fuel prices.
