Gaya, June 25: An FIR was today lodged with Magadh University police station at Bodhgaya on Thursday in connection with the abduction of a property dealer Mohd Imamudin, alias Aamo.
Controversy over a plot of land at Plaza Market, which sells electronic appliances in the heart of Gaya town along GB Road near Chhota Masjid under Kotwali police station, is the purported reason behind Aamo’s abduction.
To protest the abduction, traders of GB Road downed the shutters of their establishments today, demanding Aamo’s immediate recovery and also handed over a memorandum to the senior superintendent of police (SSP), Vinay Kumar.
Police have so far recovered Aamo’s Indica car that was found abandoned near Pachpulwa on Gaya-Dobhi road under Magadh University police station. On the other hand, the Plaza Market Shopkeepers Association has also handed over a memorandum to the SSP and also an application to lodge the FIR with Civil Lines police station against three named and around another 20 unidentified persons, including two brothers of Aamo.
Sayida Khatoon, Aamo’s mother, has named five persons Mohd Chand, Mohd Javed, Mohd Manzar, Mohd Javed and Mohd Razi of Plaza Market in the FIR lodged with Magadh University police station in connection with the abduction. In the FIR, Khatoon has cited controversy over the land plot of Plaza Market, the reason behind the abduction.
She said Aamo has already paid Rs 2.5 crore against purchase of four cottahs of land of Plaza Market. However, five shopkeepers of Plaza market had threatened to eliminate Aamo on several occasions. On June 22 evening, Aamo had gone to the market to buy medicine. When he failed to return till late evening, family members started looking for him. Later, his car was found abandoned on the Gaya-Dobhi road.
Gaya senior superintendent of police (SSP) Vinay Kumar told The Telegraph that police are investigating the matter from different angles. In the memorandum, the Plaza Market Shopkeepers Association said that Nurain and Javed Akhtar (brothers of Aamo) and Shahjahan, accompanied by around 20 other unidentified persons, arrived at Plaza Market on Friday and alleged that the shopkeepers had abducted their brother, Aamo. They hit the shutters with sticks and asked to close the shops. Else, they threatened to open fire.
Scared shopkeepers closed the shops after which Nurain and others locked the main gate, the memorandum added. The shopkeepers has also handed over an application to the SSP addressed to the station house officer of Civil Lines police station, requesting to lodge an FIR against Nurain and others.
