Patna: Embattled RJD chief Lalu Prasad, a lover of fish and mutton, has turned vegetarian once again.

The decision to deprive his taste buds has come, according to sources close to the Lalu household, on instructions from his new astrologer-cum-pandit Shankar Charan Tripathi, who was also recently appointed the national spokesperson of the party.

Renouncing all non-vegetarian food, Lalu also urged the people to stop eating fish, mutton and chicken and turn to all things green to remain healthy.

"I will urge people not to eat non-vegetarian food and stick to vegetarian food only," Lalu said on the sidelines of a function at the Patna Book Fair at Gyan Bhavan here.

Sources in the RJD said Lalu had quit non-vegetarian food after his astrologer told him that he would come out of all the troubles besetting him at present.

Lalu and his family members are engulfed in numerous cases registered by the CBI, Enforcement Directorate and the income tax department.

Asked why Lalu had stopped eating non-vegetarian food, Tripathi told The Telegraph: "Is it really important to eat non-vegetarian food? There are plenty of vegetables available, so not eating biryani will not mean that he will not get votes."
