Bihar's election lexicon is getting uglier by the day. RJD chief Lalu Prasad on Friday called Narendra Modi a " Brahma Pishach [super demon]" a day after the Prime Minister took jibes at him for his "shaitan made me say Hindus eat beef" remark.
Lalu appears undeterred even after he was booked for using language unacceptable in elections. "He is a Brahma Pishach," he told reporters before boarding a chopper to set off on a campaign trip.
He went on to say he would play sorcerer and rid Bihar of such (read Narendra Modi) people. "I would use the smoke of yellow mustard and chilly to throw such elements out," Lalu said. In Munger on Thursday, Modi had asked people to ponder why the shaitan (devil) chose Lalu's address.
Lalu has, however, contradicted the statement attributed to him and shown on some news channels. He said he meant to say that some shaitan had attributed the quote to him and it got misinterpreted.
Lalu appeared to be in a foul mood for what Modi had said. He didn't stop at Brahma Pishach. He raised the "DNA" remark Modi had made on Nitish Kumar and went on to explain it. "He talked about DNA. Do you know it means? He called him dogla," Lalu said. Dogla, a cuss word, means "illegitimate".
The DNA issue entered the poll lexicon after the Prime Minister used it during his July 25 rally at Muzaffarpur. BJP leaders tried to reason that Modi was talking about Nitish's political DNA. But the JDU launched a "take-back-your-words" campaign against Modi after which they collected thousands of hair and nail samples from across the state and sent it to the PMO last month "to teach him a proper lesson for the insult to Biharis," as tweeted by Nitish.
Friday was the first time the RJD commented on the DNA issue. Later in the day, the party submitted a written application to the chief election commissioner in New Delhi, complaining about the PM's " shaitan" remark and demanded action against Modi by not allowing him to address further rallies in Bihar.
"Modi has insulted our leader and the Yadav community by calling him shaitan, which is in violation of the code of conduct. We have requested the Election Commission to look into the seriousness of the matter," said RJD national spokesperson Manoj Jha.
