The beautification of Rajendra Sarovar would take some more time for completion even as the project has missed its July deadline.

The national highways wing of the road construction department started the project in June last year. The project included beautification of Rajendra Sarovar, construction of pathway to reach the middle of the lake, water harvesting, car parking, park and plantation. Sources in the department said the project was delayed because the depth of the pond was not known while drawing the first plan.

National highways division executive engineer Ram Bharat Prasad said cemented platforms of 3 square metres each would be constructed on all the four corners of Rajendra Sarovar. The lake is used extensively during Chhath when thousands of devotees gather to offer puja to the sun god.
