Patna municipal commissioner Kuldip Narayan seems to be firm on his crackdown against unauthorised building construction activities irrespective of attempts being made to remove him from the civic body.
For the first time after the state government passed his suspension order on December 12, Narayan cleared orders on Sunday for partial demolition of three buildings facing vigilance cases in his court.
A notice to keep several sections of the PMC office, including vigilance and establishment, open on Sunday was issued on Saturday by the commissioner.
Patna High Court had earlier directed the commissioner to dispose of all the vigilance cases pending in his court by February 15.
In another development, the urban development and housing department, through a press communiqué released on Sunday, set a deadline of seven days for ward councillors to reply to the show-cause notices been served on them earlier this month citing reasons why the civic body should not be dissolved.
Regarding the vigilance cases, Narayan passed an order to demolish the third and under-construction fourth floor of City Enclave Apartment near Anandpuri Nullah at Boring Canal Road. The builder allegedly got the approval for a G+6 building by showing the width of the abutting road as 90ft, whereas the actual road width is less than 18ft.
The commissioner also passed an order to demolish within 30 days the ongoing construction in the basement of a five-storeyed building at west Boring Canal Road owned by Devendra Lal Rai.
In the third case, the commissioner passed the order to demolish the construction having been done by encroaching on the setback area and the abutting road in new Punaichak area near Shiv Mandir.
Narayan did not issue any order since the state government issued his suspension order on December 12.
However, the high court on December 15 put a stay on Narayan's suspension order. While Narayan has been holding the charge of commissioner, the matter regarding his suspension is now being heard by a full bench of the high court.
