Patna, March 28: The 17-year-old girl who had gone missing from a reputable school is back home but it's a long way before her family can rest easy.
Speaking to The Telegraph today, her father said: 'She isn't well. At present, I have kept her at one of my relative's place. She was possibly drugged continuously, for she has mild convulsions and experiences severe headache after 4pm everyday. We have gone to many doctors and she is under treatment now.'
The family expects their girl to get better soon but has decided not to send her back to DAV-BSEB, her old school. The father blamed the school - under the scanner now for alleged fraudulent activities related to examinations and admissions - for destroying the girl's life.
He said: 'There is no way that I am going to let her go to the same school again. The school almost destroyed her. On Friday, four CBSE officials and the school's acting principal came to our home. They assured us that we need not worry and her Plus Two examinations would be treated as a special case. But if the school thinks, she'll return, it's impossible. I will never let her step into that school again.'
The girl had gone missing on February 28 after she had visited the school with her father. Police found her alone at Patna Junction on March 19. Last Saturday, she recorded her statement before judicial magistrate Khushboo Srivastava under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code. The girl claimed she had been held hostage in Patna for those 19 days and raped by two men who had found her crying at Mahavir Temple.
Referring to her statement before the magistrate, additional superintendent of police (Sachivalaya) Shibli Nomani said: 'The girl has not mentioned any of her school authorities. The police are trying to prepare sketches of the two men, who, she said, sexually assaulted her for days. One man's sketch is ready and the police are yet to decide whether or not to make it public. The girl's medical report is, however, still awaited.'
The police are also pursuing a simultaneous case against DAV-BSEB, whose three teachers are in judicial custody till April 11. Shastri Nagar police station had also lodged an FIR against the school principal, Ramanuj Prasad, in connection with the forgery and admission racket. He was suspended last week but a court yesterday stayed the police from arresting him in the case.
The girl's father said: 'I do not want to comment on the investigation or the court's decisions. Right now, I am more concerned about my daughter.'
DAV principal Ramanuj Prasad claimed he was innocent. 'You can ask anyone in the school. The future of my two children is under a cloud because of this. I'm innocent and am waiting for the court's verdict. Once proven innocent, I will leave Bihar.'
