Kin allege cop laxity over missing teenagers

The relatives of two boys who went missing from Khajekalan on Wednesday laid siege to the local police station on Friday over the police's delay in tracing the duo.

Patna: The relatives of two boys who went missing from Khajekalan on Wednesday laid siege to the local police station on Friday over the police's delay in tracing the duo.

Aakash Kumar and Ujjwal Kumar went missing on May 2 when out for commerce coaching classes near Chowk on their motorcycle at 10am on Wednesday.

An FIR was lodged in this connection by their relatives, who agitated before Khajekalan police station on Thursday night. While Ujjwal, 19, is the son of Dayanand Choudhary of Barkat Khan Ka Akhada Mohalla, Aakash, 18, is a resident of Machharhatta locality.

When contacted, Khajekalan police station house officer (SHO) Vinay Kumar said: "Both the boys have been detained in connection with a criminal case."

Kotwali police station in-charge Ram Shankar Singh confirmed the detention. He, however, refused to divulge details on the plea that investigations were on in the case.

All Singh said was the boys were picked up while loitering in an area under the jurisdiction of Kotwali police station in a suspicious manner.

"The duo's antecedents are being verified" said the Kotwali SHO.
