The Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation (BSTDC) plans to introduce a new tour package to Kakolat waterfall in Nawada to woo tourists this summer.
The tour package will also include a visit to the Jain pilgrim centre in Pawapuri.
Brajesh Kishore Singh, the manager of Travel and Trade, said: "Bookings for the tour package was scheduled to startfrom Sunday (today) while the actual tour will start from April 22. The tourists can avail the services every Saturday and Sunday."
Mostly, tourists from across the state and even from neighbouring ones like Jharkhand and Bengal visit Kakolat.
"Keeping in view the tourists inflow, we decided to include a tour package this year to our itinerary," Singh said, adding: "The tourists will also be taken to Pawapuri in Nalanda district, a Jain pilgrim centre during the tour which will cost Rs 350 each."
The bus carrying the tourists will leave Patna at 7am every Saturday and Sunday and will return back to the state capital the same day around 8pm, he said.
Kakolat waterfall is situated on Kakolat hill, located on the border of Bihar and Jharkhand, around 33km from Nawada.
Tourists come here from all over the state and adjoining areas to spend their leisure time, especially in the summer months. The water cascades down from a height of between 150 and 160 feet and forms a natural reservoir at the base of the waterfall.
During recent times, the government has undertaken several projects to beautify the waterfall area as well as its adjoining areas, which include building roads, which were in a very bad shape earlier, renovation of a guest house, opening up of cafeteria and repair of staircase.
The Jal Mandir at Pawapuri is a highly revered temple dedicated to Lord Mahavira, the 24th Tirthankara (religious preacher of Jainism) and founder of Jain religion, which marks the place of his cremation.
