The favourable placement situation at Chanakya National Law University has brought a smile on the faces of the students.
Of the 62 final year students at the Chanakya National Law University (CNLU) this year, around 28 had registered for the placement in September last year. Fourteen of them have already received job offers from legal process outsourcing and law firms.
CNLU placement officer Ajay Kumar said: "At CNLU, the placement started in September last year, in which 28 students had registered. Of them, around 14 students have received placement offers till date." He added that the institute is hopeful that the placement figures will go up in the coming months.
Like previous year, QuisLex, a legal process outsourcing, is the biggest recruiter this time, too, which had hired 11 students.
Another legal process outsourcing Pangea3 has provided job offers to two students. Another student has received an offer from New Delhi law firm Universal Law Associates.
A final-year student who has received placement offer from QuisLex said: "QuisLex and Pangea3 are the regular recruiters at our institute and this year also they have given job offers to many students and I am one of them."
He added that QuisLex and Pangea3 are for law students what Wipro and Infosys are for budding engineers. Not only the firms offer good salaries, they give regular hikes, too.
Apart from QuisLex, Pangea3 and Universal Law Associates, there are other companies in the pipeline that are likely to visit the law institute in the next couple of months.
Insurance companies like Bajaj Allianz and Shriram Insurance have shown interest in visiting the institute. While Bajaj Allianz is likely to visit the institute on March 11, Shriram Insurance is yet to finalise a date.
While the 28 students had registered for placement, the rest 34 budding lawyers have plans to make a career in bar or judiciary.
S.P. Singh, the registrar of the CNLU, said: "The basic purpose of national universities is to produce lawyers and judges. I am happy that CNLU students have shown interest in joining bar and judiciary."
His statement assumes importance as last year around 14 students had cleared Bihar Judiciary Examination. Five students cleared Jharkhand Judiciary Examination the results of which were declared in January.
Manish Kumar Singh, a CNLU student of 2007-12 batch who has cleared Jharkhand Judiciary Examination, said: "From the day I had joined CNLU, I wanted to pursue a career in judiciary. I am happy to finally clear the judicial examination."
