Patna, April 19: The Leader of the Opposition in Bihar Legislative Assembly, Abdul Bari Siddiqui, today criticised the Nitish Kumar government for the alleged murder of a brick kiln worker in Gaya.

The RJD leader alleged that poor people are not safe in Nitish’s regime. “Sitaram Prasad, a brick kiln factory worker, was killed on March 17, 2012 at Kujru gram panchayat under Atri police station in Gaya. The factory owner and his two aides murdered Sitaram and cremated his body without any post-mortem. The police played a major role in the incident,” Siddiqui alleged.

The Telegraph is witholding the names of the trio who were named by Siddiqui.

With the deceased’s widow, Manorama Devi, by his side, Siddiqui said: “He (Sitaram) worked in a brick kiln but the owner used to exploit him and did not even pay proper wages. He quit the job but the owner forced him to rejoin. On March 17, 2012, there were reports that the owner had murdered Sitaram. When family members, including Manorama, reached the factory, his body was found on a tractor.”

“The factory owner, along with his two aides, took his body to the Mangra river for cremation. However, police received information and reached the spot. Manorama told the police that the factory owner and his aides had killed her husband. Despite her plea, the police did not take the body in their custody,” said Siddiqui.
