True to its parliamentary election catchline Nayi Soch Nayi Ummeed, the BJP’s state unit has added innovation to mobilise support for the Hunkar Rally.

Unlike other rallies of the JD(U) or RJD, two stages would be set up. On one, folk singers will perform, while Modi will address the rally on the other made of steel.

The party has sent out invitation letters to residents requesting them to turn up at the rally. The workers are also conducting door-to-door campaigns. The invitation letters have the BJP’s 2014 parliamentary election catchline Nayi Soch Nayi Ummeed with a picture of the Gujarat chief minister, Narendra Modi.

Sources said the party has planned to distribute around 60 lakh invitation cards before the rally. State BJP president Mangal Pandey said: “Each MLA and MP has been asked to distribute around 50,000 invitation cards.”

Though the primary focus of the invitation is to request people to turn up at Gandhi Maidan, the letter also has a whiff of an attack on the UPA government and Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar.

BJP sources said unlike other rallies, Modi would make a scathing attack on the UPA for its policies and on Nitish for breaking the alliance.

Residents, however, are excited with the state BJP’s idea of mobilising people through invitation cards. Santosh Kumar, a resident of Shastri Nagar, said: “It is for the first time I am seeing that any political party is mobilising people through invitation card. There will be a huge turnout.” On whether he would visit Gandhi Maidan on October 27 to listen to Modi, Santosh said: “Till now, I have no plans to visit Gandhi Maidan. I hope watch the event on television at home.” The party has 92 MLAs and 12 Lok Sabha MPs in the state.
