Patna: Kaimur superintendent of police Mohammad Faroguddin has ordered an investigation into alleged misbehaviour with some women home guard jawans at the women's police station of the district on June 16.
The SP, on the request of the victims, has asked the deputy superintendent of police to inquire into allegations against police constable Sonu Kumar Rai and submit a report. The DSP, in turn, has sought a report from the station house officer Anchala Kumari. The women home guard jawans told senior officials that Sonu reached the women's police station around 1.30am when they were on duty. Sonu, who was posted at Bhabua town police station, forcibly sat on a chair and started talking about their personal lives.
When they didn't respond, Sonu stood up and asked one of them to accompany her in the guard room. He also threatened to complain against them to the SHO of the women's police station if they didn't follow her diktat. The next day, the victims narrated the incident to the SHO.
The matter, however, remained under wraps for two days and no action was taken against the erring cop.
On Saturday, the victims met the SP and demanded an investigation into the matter. Later, DSP Ajay Prasad recorded the statements of the victims. Faroguddin said the disciplinary action against the erring constable would be initiated on the basis of the inquiry report. "The report has not been submitted to me. Once it comes to me, I will take action against the constable in question," he added.
The women's police station SHO, however, refused to share any information on the issue. "I am not supposed to talk to the media. Contact the senior officials for any official comment," she said, adding she would send her report to the seniors at the earliest.
