Patna, Feb. 22: A case of alleged gang rape of a minor girl in the remote Bakasara village in Rohtas district, around 170km from here, came to the fore when JD(U) member Ramdhani Singh raised it in the Assembly during the zero hour.
The Dal member from Karahgar in which the village falls drew the chair’s attention towards the plight of the girl and her family. “Prita (name changed) was raped repeatedly by co-villagers and tortured on February 20. She has been battling for life at a Varanasi hospital.”
Deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi stood up to take notice of the question on behalf of the chief minister, who was away campaigning in Kalyanpur. “The government will look into the matter. Stern action will be taken against the culprits. No one found guilty of the heinous crime will be spared.”
Ramdhani demanded that the government must ensure proper treatment of the girl.
