The e-commerce initiative by a Bihar-based industrialist to sell makhana (gorgon nut) online has garnered an impressive number of hits from India and abroad.

On August 30, Patna-based Shakti Sudha industries launched — www.gorgonnut.com — through which people can order makhana-made products online.

Soon after its launch, the website got hits from India and abroad and orders from within the country. “We will start taking international orders from September 15. The response has been very good so far. In a week, the website has seen 275 hits from countries abroad. We have received 32 calls from US, UAE and Spain. They wanted to know from when we would start our deliveries outside India,” Satyajeet Kumar Singh, the chief executive officer of Shakti Sudha industries, said on Friday.

The firm has got calls from Granada and Madrid in Spain. The maximum number of enquiries has been registered from US with 56 hits, followed by Spain at 31.

“People in Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Germany, Australia, Singapore, UK, Canada, Oman, Brazil, Columbia, Nigeria, Belgium, Indonesia, Japan, Qatar, South Korea, Mauritius and Sweden have also checked our website,” Singh said.

“We launched on August 30 but the online sale started on September 1. In India, we have already received 107 orders online and we are in the process of despatching them. Most number of orders from India has come from National Capital Region and Bangalore,” Singh added.
