Residents would be able to avail of the services of chartered flights and air ambulance from the middle of this month.

A Cessna Grand Caravan 208B aircraft arrived at state hanger at Patna airport on Wednesday afternoon. Skyfisher Airways Ltd would operate it for non-scheduled flights from Patna to Varanasi, Gaya and Bhagalpur.

The operator claimed that it would get necessary clearance for non-scheduled operations from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) within a week.

“We have got the air worthiness and registration certificates. The application for non-scheduled operators’ permit — a mandatory clearance for chartered operation — is under the consideration of the DGCA at present. We expect to get the nod within a week and commence the operations from mid-October,” said Atul Singh, executive director, Skyfisher Airways Ltd.

Singh said they have 12 trained pilots. Besides corporate and personal bookings, the services of Skyfisher Airways would also be available for medical evacuation. The operator will provide a 24x7 helpline. The services can be booked through its website — www.skyfisherairways.com — and through authorised travel agents or its booking counter at Patna airport.

“This is the first phase of our operation. In the second phase, we will introduce three more aircraft and connect Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Raipur, Bhubaneswar and Calcutta,” said Rabi Satapathy, group chairman, Skyfisher.
